Eng. Tinotenda Zvavashe

Engineer Tinotenda Zvavashe is a professional engineer specializing in Electronics and Renewable Energy. He has vast knowledge in design and development of electronics and renewable energy systems and products as well as aiding in capacity building in the energy sector. His research interests are in design of efficient electronic renewable energy products, performance optimization of solar PV electricity generators, and renewable energy resource assessment, including data acquisition and management, hybridization of energy generators and solar resource forecasting. He holds a B Eng (Hons) degree in Electronics from the National University of Science and Technology, an M Tech degree in Embedded Systems from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University in India. He has also undertook training on Wind Energy Technology; Grid Connected Solar PV Systems; Solar Cells and Light Emitting Diodes; Theory, Design and Implementation for Sustainable Electricity Generation and Lighting; Micro Air Vehicles; Avionics Systems in Modern Aircraft and Simulation of Wireless Networks Using NS2, among other professional development courses. He is also a registered member of the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers and a registered professional engineer with the Engineering Council of Zimbabwe. He also sits on various technical committees of the Standards Association of Zimbabwe and is a technical member of the National Solar Water Heating Programme in Zimbabwe. Eng Zvavashe joined SIRDC in June 2020 as the Director of the Energy Technology Institute. Prior to joining SIRDC, he was engaged with several institutions including the Harare Institute of Technology as a Lecturer and researcher, National Institute of Wind Energy in India as a research fellow, Desti Technologies in India as a research fellow and the department of electronics at ZISCO Steel. Eng Zvavashe has published a number of research papers and has made research presentations at various forums locally and abroad.
