Unlocking Zimbabwe's Economy through coordinated Research and Development

The Scientific and Industrial Research and Development Centre (SIRDC) has adopted a Cluster System to optimize delivery of services for the benefit of the economy in line with the “Whole of Government Approach”.  The Research and Development (R&D) clusters, which fall under Programme 2 mirror the National Development Strategy 1(NDS1) priority areas.  These are: Agriculture; Energy and Power; Health; Industry and Manufacturing; Information and Communication Technologies; Built Environment and Transportation Systems; Water and Environment; Mining and Mineral Beneficiation; Small and Medium Enterprises; and Commercialisation.

The Programme 1 clusters which are Corporate Governance and Administration Clusters are Finance; Audit; Human Resources, Records Management, and Cafeteria; Works, General Services and Security; Administration. Procurement and Stores Management; Public Relations and Marketing; Hardware and Network Systems Administration; Logistics; and Legal Services.

This strategic re-alignment will enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the implementation of R&D programmes. The Centre will strongly leverage on Artificial Intelligence, Advanced Manufacturing Systems and Data Analytics capabilities to deliver ground breaking innovations in all Clusters, as we transition to the 5th Industrial Revolution and implementation of National Development Strategy 2.
